Budapesti Nemzetközi Gitárfesztivál és Verseny

Zsombor Sidoo started to play the guitar at the age of eight in the class of László Gulyás. Four years later he pursued his studies at the School for Exceptional Young Talents within the Hungarian Franz Liszt Academy of Music in the class of József Eötvös. Since 2013 he has been a student of the Music Academy of Graz, attending the class of Paolo Pegoraro. Currently he is a second year Master’s student of the academy. Besides focusing on guitar music, he also regularly attends the composition classes of Beat Furrer.

Zsombor is considered to be one of the most promising and versatile talent of his generation. Since the age of eleven he has been an active participant of international competitions, where he has received numerous awards. In 2010 he was awarded both the 1st prize and the Audience Award at the International Guitar Festival Rust (Austria). In 2011 he received 1st prize at the Gitarre Wien in the youth category.

Since then he has won several awards at various festivals and competitions, including the Anna Amalia Competition for Young Guitarists (Weimar, Germany), the International Guitar Festival Oberhausen, the Enrico Mercatali Award (Italy), the International Guitar Competition Ida Presti (Croatia), the J. K. Mertz Guitar Competition and Festival (Bratislava), the Zagreb Guitar Festival, and the Markneukirchen, the Gargnano, the Michele Pittaluga and the Klagenfurt international guitar festivals. In 2016 he was given the scholarship of Graz as the most outstanding musical talent of the year.

He regularly performs at important festivals, gives solo concerts and works together with orchestras. This year, as a member of the Eurostrings Young Artists program, he performs at numerous festivals all around Europe and gives masterclasses.
