JOSCHOS GYPSY SWING
Its roots are rooted in Gipsy Swing music, in the style introduced by legendary jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt in the 1930s. Not only has Joscho Stephan absorbed this music, but he interprets it at the highest level and is actively involved in expanding his boundaries. Despite his young age, after four highly successful CDs and a DVD, he has already played himself among the illustrious circle of the best gipsy swing musicians in the world.
Great jazz musicians such as Paquito de Rivera, James Carter, Charlie Mariano or Grady Tate enthusiastically praised the talented rookie for their joint performances, touring Australia with top guitarists Martin Taylor and Tommy Emmanuel, and his own bands (trio to quintet) at several major European festivals (including Slovenia, Italy, France, Poland and the United Kingdom).
His concerts at Lincoln Center in New York or Nashville, the capital of the American country, were received with as much admiration as his performances at Birdland, the sanctuary of jazz in New York. The press is just flooding everywhere with Joscho Stephan. His debut album “Swinging Strings” was chosen as the CD of the month by the American magazine Guitar Player. In the words of the highly respected Acoustic Guitar Magazine, he is the custodian of the future of the gypsy jazz guitar.

He has earned an outstanding reputation in the international guitar scene. No one knows how to stand out from the multitude of current gypsy swing adaptations when he combines gypsy swing with Latin, classics and pop music in addition to many interpretations of the genre’s well-known classics. This is where Stephan’s creative visionary power becomes apparent. And this dazzles the audience of the concerts, young and old alike.
